You may be asking - what is unsafe about Art? Art is a thing of beauty, but it can also be at times a thing of repulsion. Art is a reflection of Life and vice versa and that’s what makes Art enticing, attractive and mysterious; Art is deeply Human. It speaks to us without words, it is a medium for communication, a tool for expression and an outlet therefore Art is for all.
Women In Art takes on the brave task of recognising and opening a deep conversation not only about beauty but also the repulsive; the dark side of Art; the side which can involve abuse of power and manipulation.
Women in Art focuses on Women’s rights within creative spaces to ensure that though Art has become a huge commodity and has lost its Essence in some way, that the Sanctity of the Human Being is not also lost through this commodification.
Creativity helps us realise that we don’t have to understand everything.

Women In Art Is a non-profit collective Organisation set up for Women in Art Spaces across the Artistic Disciplines. The organisation recognises that the Art world is frequently unsafe for women and actively seeks to use collective action to change this in a sustainable way. Women In Art is looking for all participants in the Art world and related industries to commit to a change in this structural and cultural status quo and to take a position of zero tolerance.
Women In Art recognises the discrepancies and inequality of power both material and immaterial within the Art world and we recognise that this is stifling and inhibiting Artistic expression.
Women In Art is working to ensure that all areas of Art are safe for everyone and that the normalisation of abuse within Art is challenged and put to rest once and for all.
Women In Art wish to enable women to become independent and less dependent within predominantly and historically male dominated fields.
Women In Art is happy to work hand in hand with other fields, since no feild can exist or exists in isolation and we can achieve much more while working together.
I hope you can join this pursuit for equality for all.
